Candy Mountain

by David Black

David Black is a Los Angeles-based photographer and director noted for his work with musicians Daft Punk, Cat Power, Kendrick Lamar, and others. His photographs have been featured in The New Yorker and Rolling Stone, among many other publications.

Candy Mountain is the final installment in David Black’s trilogy of titles with Hat & Beard Press. It follows his first two volumes, Cerro Gordo and The Days Change at Night, on another magnificent photographic journey, this time through the vast Western landscapes of his childhood memories and current geographical explorations.

Images of horses running wild and celestial skies follow radiant mountain ranges, ghostly silhouettes and lonely deserts, all infusing the photographs with an uninhibited sense of freedom.

Candy Mountain is also available as a limited edition. Produced as a negative of the original, it features a booklet comprised of production notes by Louis Gropman on the making of the book.
