INITIATIVES

CALIFORNIA ARTISTS

This series of books features monographs and exhibitions by up-and-coming California artists, organized by our LA board. Recent or forthcoming titles include: Akiko Stehrenberger, Manny Farber, Senon Williams, Lita Albuquerque, and Cole Sternberg.

THE MIDWEST INITIATIVE

This series of books and exhibitions are culled from the archives in dusty basements of museums in the Midwest; in personal collections gathering dust in someone’s attic; in storage files at long-gone galleries of yesteryear. Upcoming titles include the second monograph by Cody Hudson, the first monograph by Japanese-American photographer Jun Fujita, the illustrated history of the Dil Pickle Club; the first definitive study of architect Paul Schweikher.

ACROSS THE POND

This series is focused on pop culture juggernauts from the UK who aren’t as well known in the United States. The first five titles include the Brit-pop sensations PULP, Gruff Rhys from Super Furry Animals, the Rock Against Racism compendium, Syd Barrett of Pink Floyd, and the amazing chronicles of the cult film Withnail & I.

THE BERGMAN PRIZE

Changes is a nonprofit press based in New York City dedicated to publishing exceptional poetry by emerging writers in the United States. Established in 2020 by Bennet Bergman, the press operates as a charitable program of The Bergman Foundation in memory of Judson and Susan Bergman. Changes publishes The Bergman Prize book series in partnership with Hat & Beard Press and Invisible Republic to produce finely crafted editions of contemporary poetry.

The first winner will be judged by 2020 Nobel Prize in Literature recipient Louise Gluck.
